Who am I?

I am an advocate

In 5th grade, I was identified as a gifted learner. In the early 1980s, gifted education was somewhat new. I don't remember having a specific discussion about why I was going to ACE on Wednesday afternoons, but I do remember loving it. I wasn't bored in when I went to ACE and I loved the activities we did - Wordly Wise, Think Lab, and reading The Incredible Journey. Fast forward to 1998. When I started teaching at J.O. Davis, I enrolled in SMU's gifted education graduate program with a friend. Little did I know that it would lead me to where I am today. As an Advanced Academics/GT Coordinator, I strive to

• be an advocate for gifted learners, their parents, and educators who work with gifted kids.
• provide comprehensive services (academic and affective) for gifted learners and advanced academics students.
• provide teachers with tools and professional learning that will allow them to grow.

I am a reader

I have always been an avid reader. While I definitely have my favorites, I will also read just about anything. A few years ago I discovered Goodreads, a social media website to keep track of what I read and what I want to read.
