In 5th grade, I was identified as a gifted learner. In the early 1980s, gifted education was somewhat new. I don't remember having a specific discussion about why I was going to ACE on Wednesday afternoons, but I do remember loving it. I wasn't bored in when I went to ACE and I loved the activities we did - Wordly Wise, Think Lab, and reading The Incredible Journey. Fast forward to 1998. When I started teaching at J.O.
