File Sharing / Intellectual Property

This module will increase student awareness that material found on the Internet is considered property. It addresses intellectual property issues inherent to Internet usage, the legal acquisition of and distribution of material found on the Internet, and the increasing problem of intellectual property theft via the Internet. The primary objective of this lesson is to equip students with knowledge that will enable them to make responsible choices regarding the use of intellectual property found on the Internet.

This module will increase student awareness of the concept that cyberbulling is real and has negative consequences, not only for the victim but for the offender as well. It addresses cyberbullying situations, the consequences of cyberbullying, and strategies to handle cyberbullying situations. The primary objective of this lesson is to equip students with knowledge that will enable them to identify behavior indicative of cyberbullying and make responsible choices regarding how to avoid becoming a cyberbully and how to properly deal with a cyberbully.

It addresses harassment, cyber stalking, and the process of grooming, used by cyber predators to prepare their intended victims for a face-to-face meeting. The primary objective of this lesson is to educate and empower students with knowledge that will enable them to assertively protect themselves while communicating online to decrease the chance that they will be victimized online.
