Research in Health, Care and Communities

Welcome to the Research in Health, Care and Communities microsite.

This has been created with the help and input from colleagues in other networks and organisations.

This has been developed as part of a National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Supraregional initiative by East of England, East Midlands and West Midlands Research Networks to provide a single space for the research delivery community to access key information to help engage and recruit in health, care and community settings and services.

By making more research happen we can improve treatment and care for everyone, helping people to live better.

Please click above to be taken to a page of information to get you started and provide you with a basic foundation and some core information regarding research in the wider care and community.

On this page you will find links to lots of settings you may come across.

You will also find further information on specific sites, this section will grow as we learn more about these new areas of research.

This page has a table of information to help you develop your skills with wider care and community settings. How to use and navigate the table is explained in the Awesome table.

Please be aware that this website links to information and guidance provided by other organisations. Queries or issues relating to information and guidance provided by external organisations should be directed to the organisation responsible.

The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) is committed to funding health, public health and social care research that leads to improved outcomes for patients and the public, and makes the health and social care system more efficient, effective and safe.

The wider care and community setting is vast and includes: pharmacies, care homes, hospices, ambulance services, prisons, schools, GPs, opticians and community based practices.

By running research in wider care and community settings, this means more people can take part in research that affects them, including those in under-served communities.
