Inspiration.

On a PowerPoint slide

I see constellations to my life.

Mapped out in charts,

my struggles are graphs.

And I don’t know if I’m going to cry

Or laugh.

As you tell my story

and I wonder;

How much did circumstance even play a part?

Was I screwed from the start?

When I was choosing the strange paths

While most followed “THIS WAY” →

It’s neon light

was far too bright

so I wandered away

fought a path out of sight

And I followed those constellations at night.

But now I know -

I wasn’t alone.

I hear women speak stories

of similar plights

how they too had to fight

to take their own paths

and got lost in the dark;

And now,

they’ve made their mark.

They’re telling my story;

No,

They’re telling our story

And I feel a spark –

I’m inspired.
