What is EDGE and why do GP practices need to use it?
EDGE is the national research management tool used across the NIHR to track study activity. Keeping your practice's recruitment data accurate and up to date is a key national requirement. Taking ownership of your practice’s EDGE data and keeping recruitment entries accurate and up to date is key. It ensures your research activity is monitored correctly, which directly links to how activity and funding are allocated to your site.
Practice Responsibilities
Practices that received South Central RRDN WCS funding of £15,000 or more are expected to update and maintain EDGE. This is a national expectation.
Practices in receipt of less than £15,000 are eligible to request direct support from our team with recruitment uploads and other data collection in EDGE. Please request support from sc.rrdn@nihr.ac.uk
Training Resources
This training consists of a short four-part video series:
Module 1: Accessing EDGE, homepage setup, and finding a project (4 min)
Module 2: Updating location details and managing dates (4 min)
Please nominate individuals from your practice to watch the training videos and assign them as the main point of contact for EDGE. Any new users should please contact us for an EDGE log in at: sc.rrdn@nihr.ac.uk
