A new tool for showing the risk factor in developing keratoconus to clinicians and to aid discussions with patients has been designed by a team at Moorfields Eye Hospital and UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, with support from the NIHR Moorfields Biomedical Research Centre.
Keratoconus is a condition causing thinning of the cornea, which distorts vision. It is often treated with a corneal transplant called ‘crosslinking’. The condition is most prevalent in teenagers. This tool will help predict development and aid earlier treatment.
