Nearly 4 in 10 women in Thurrock and Southend are missing their breast screening appointments – and we want to change that.
We've launched a new video to help you understand what happens during breast screening and why it matters. Whether you're waiting for your first invitation or haven't been for a while, this short film takes you through every step of the process.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. Screening helps catch it early when treatment works best, which can save lives.
We know that attending can feel daunting. Many women tell us they worry about pain, feel anxious, or aren't sure what to expect. That's exactly why we made this video – to answer your questions and put your mind at ease.
We want all women to feel confident about breast screening, so we've created additional resources:
Versions in different community languages – so you can watch in the language you're most comfortable with
Let's Talk About Breasts – an accessible film we made together with women who have learning disabilities and autism, designed to answer questions and address the barriers this community faces
Easy-read materials – including a Talking Text version of the breast screening booklet
If you have any questions about breast screening, please speak to your GP or practice nurse. You can also contact Macmillian by visiting macmillan.org.uk/whateveryouneed.
Taking 30 minutes for your screening appointment could make all the difference. When your invitation arrives, please book your appointment.
