Welcome to the

Great North Research Conference

for the Life Sciences and Medical Technology Industries

The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) is pleased to invite you to a very special event on 21 and 22 November 2023 at the remarkable Concorde Conference Centre at Manchester Airport.

For the first time ever, colleagues from across the north of England are banding together to host an event that will showcase the brilliant life sciences and medical technology research that is happening in the north, as well as demonstrate what the north has to offer to these industries.

Day 1 of the event will focus on the life sciences industry, while day 2 will concentrate on medical technology. The agenda will be published in due course.

The event is hosted by the four northern NIHR Local Clinical Research Networks (LCRNs), covering the North East and North Cumbria, Greater Manchester, North West Coast and Yorkshire and Humber regions.

We look forward to welcoming national and international delegates from across the life sciences and medical technology industries, as well as NHS and wider research partners. There will be plenty of opportunities to network.

Speakers | Our keynote speaker for day 1 of the conference is Lord O'Shaughnessy, former Health Minister, who recently conducted an independent review into the UK’s commercial clinical trials landscape. We look forward to announcing further speakers soon and you can find out more on our agenda page in the meantime.

Event Features | The afternoon of each day will be interactive.
