In this presentation, I was able to highlight that you can use Moodle to communicate effectively with students. Moodle is an excellent tool for tracking communication, but we must use it properly to make it work for us as educators.

Interview Date: May 21, 2023
The call went out, and I was nominated for The Beryl Allen Award for Innovative Technology. What happened next was definitely from the movies. The multiverse activated, and I received a call saying I had won the award. I, Chevonnese Chevers Whyte, won the inaugural award for The Beryl Allen Award for Innovative Teaching. I'm still beside myself with the news. Out of that award, I was asked to chronicle my journey and how the award came to be. Listen to the interview by Cassandra Brenton of the Marketing Unit of the UWI, Mona, aired on News Talk 93 FM on May 21, 2023. I hope you enjoy it.
Digital Pedagogies for Sustainable Development Conference 2023
Topic: Animating Digital Stories for Educators
Event: Presentation
Date: May 25, 2023
It was more than a pleasure delivering this presentation. It married two (2) disciplines that I love: Animation and Education. The truth is, as educators, we have to find new and exciting ways to grab and maintain our students' attention. One possible way to do that is to create short animated videos enabling you to deliver the content differently. I hope that through this presentation, you and others can make your classroom experience more engaging and appealing. I am very grateful to the organisers of the Digital Pedagogies for Sustainable Conference for allowing me the opportunity to do the presentation.

This was the first educational conference I attended. Even better, the day before my birthday, I was at Moon Palace Hotel, and I got to speak about a topic I love to discuss—Google! I've known Moon Palace since it was the Americana Hotel and then the Jamaica Grande, so I felt at home. The best part: I had sushi at the hotel. It was amazing!
As you may know, I've been using Google in my teaching workflow. One gem that I found was Google Forms. I use Google Forms to mark the assessments that I set for my students. Below, you'll find the presentation that was created on this very topic.

Teaching with Technology Showcase 2014
Presentation: Google Apps as a Teaching Tool
Event: Roundtable Discussion
Date: April 15, 2014
Location: Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, University of the West Indies, Mona
Title: The Group Project Problem and solving it with Google Apps
Event: Poster Display
Date: April 14, 2014 to April 16, 2014
Location: Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, University of the West Indies, Mona
This was a 2-day event where I presented on "Google Apps as a Teaching Tool" and a poster display on "The Group Project Problem and solving it with Google Apps."
Maybe I am an advocate for Google tools in the classroom. I didn't set out to be. At the time, I needed cost-effective solutions that both my students and I could use while still being able to discuss the key concepts for the lesson.
The presentation delved into several Google services that have the potential to significantly enhance the learning experience of students within the classroom.
While teaching my classes, it was evident that students were unwilling to work in groups. I had to devise a recipe to assist with their development related to working in a group. After all, they would need to work in teams when they leave school to develop their skills. The tools themselves may change, but the essence remains the same: an online project management tool, a communication tool with video recording, and an online file-sharing service. It so happened that I used tools from Google, but the essence remains the same. Check out my presentation on the poster. Within the presentation is an image of the poster itself.
Future of Media & Regulations Conference 2014
Presentation: Emerging Trends and The Future of Print for Media in Jamaica
Panelist
April 8, 2014
Broadcasting Commission
Jamaica Pegasus
This conference hosted various local media houses to examine the current state of the industry. I had the privilege of being invited to be a member of the panel that examined emerging trends in media and its future.
My approach to the presentation was to conduct a mini survey to see if people will still consume content via traditional media and what types of content they want. The most surprising result was that young people wanted to keep up-to-date with the news, but they didn't want to know how we provided that content. You may review my presentation below.
