Books and Big Ideas
Books & Big Ideas: Our Program
Books & Big Ideas is a Nightingale family education series that brings together two of our favorite things in the Lower School: picture books and meaningful conversations! Each session focuses on a Nightingale value and a picture book that we use to foster conversation and build community around that value in the Schoolhouse. Members of the Lower School professional community share a book, model how we might read and talk about the book at Nightingale, and facilitate discussion amongst families. Lower School students and their trusted adults attend and participate together.
By joining us for these conversations, families:
Get a window into what our diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice work looks and feels like in the Lower School,
Practice using books as a jumping-off point for talking about big issues as a family,
And engage with other Lower School families who are interested in supporting this work within and beyond the Schoolhouse.
Below, you'll find the books we've explored so far! Use the navigation in the menu above or the links below to explore expanded resource lists related to key Nightingale values explored in this program.
