The Design Research opportunity is trying to find Design-led action research for suitable craft pedagogy/tools/methods from the traditional craft of India in this context to enhance the welfare with the craft activity.

2. Building Craft - Revitalisation :

Globalisation has been a disintegrating tradition in construction as well as in the implementation of cultural and social identities.The built environment in India has undergone a dramatic and unprecedented process of separation from the world of craft in the twentieth century. Marks an end to many centuries of consistent use of building crafts. The timeless principles used by generations of artisans and builders have entered an era of decline, especially where new built is concerned. The language of traditional architecture, managed by balancing significance of form and its physical expression, is now taught at only a few schools of thought. Many commentators and ordinary people voiced concern about the wholesale destruction of historic buildings, and indeed entire neighbourhoods carried out by greedy planners. Today society is still struggling with mindless modernisation, which left behind disintegrated communities, lifeless cities and out of scale unsustainable developments. Design research aims to establish service based responsible craft tourism - ways and means to bring sustainable growth to craft and community.
