My name is Madame Wichert. I have been teaching at Nicolet since 2015. This year, I will be teaching French 1, French 2, French 3/3H, French 4/4H and French 5AP.
Here is a little bit about myself. I grew up in a small town outside of Lyon in France. I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in 2012 in World Languages & Literatures. For my graduate studies, I studied World Language Education at the University of Sorbonne in Paris and as an exchange student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I graduated with my Master's degree in 2014. I permanently moved to Milwaukee from France in 2014. I completed my Teaching Licensure at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (Go Panthers!) Before coming to Nicolet, I taught French at UW-Milwaukee as an Associate Lecturer and I worked as a teacher at the Alliance Française de Milwaukee. In my free time, I love spending time with my husband (who is a German and a French teacher), our sons Levy and Archie and our French bulldog Cosmo, baking, going to the theatre as well as exploring new cities and countries.
I am very passionate about traveling and I have traveled to over 32 countries. My favorite places to visit have been South Africa, Sweden and Denmark. I would love to travel to Québec, Japan and French Polynesia.
My favorite color is green and I have a sweet tooth; my favorite foods are Nutella ice cream, liège waffles and molten chocolate cakes.
I played tennis for ten years and I have skied competitively through high school.
I love working at Nicolet and I am passionate about teaching my first language and the many cultures around the world that speak it. It is a privilege to be working with your child. I look forward to a new school year :)
In addition to our classes, the French Department offers a French Club, a French Honor Society (Société Honoraire de Français) as well as international travel to a French-speaking country. We traveled to Martinique in 2018, to France in 2022 and 2024 and we hosted students from Provence in France in 2015 and 2017 and from Martinique in 2018. I love taking my students on field trips. We visited an Impressionist exhibit at the Milwaukee Art Museum in 2019. Students also participate in the French National Contest as well as the Wisconsin State French Speaking Contest.
À bientôt en classe de français!
