1 - Automatic Zeros for Late Work
In your Grades tool, you can set items to receive automatic zeros if an activity becomes overdue. This can save you time if you do not allow late work. Supported activities include: Assignments, Quizzes, and LTI tools. To set this up, head into the Grades tool, choose 'Settings' and navigate to the 'Calculation Options' tab.

In the Grades tool, students can now see feedback files that you attach for Assignments, Quizzes, and Discussions.

As previously communicated to the NICC community, text message notifications are no longer available in Brightspace or the News Hub. Instead, encourage your students to download the Brightspace Pulse app to receive push notifications for your class.

To save you time - Generative AI is coming to Brightspace! Quickly create quizzes, assignments, and discussion activities in your classes. If you have your content in HTML pages in your class, you will be impressed with how quickly the system can help you draft an activity based on the content in your course! Alternatively, you can copy/paste text or other information into the AI generator to speed up your course building processes. More news is coming on this, so stay tuned!

Populate your profiles in Brightspace and Simple Syllabus to save time and help your students out!

Head to the Simple Syllabus site
Select your name in the top right corner and choose 'My Profile'
Update items such as your Office Location, Phone Number, and Office Hours to have them automatically pre-populate in your syllabus!

Students love seeing your face, even if you teach online!
In Brightspace, click on your name in the top right corner and choose 'Profile'
On this screen, upload an image of yourself and feel free to add in other information about yourself.
The items in your profile can appear on your course homepage! Check out the instructions here for more information.
Encourage your students to upload a picture to their profile as well! Profile images appear in the classlist and other areas of the Brightspace platform.
