Casa El Norte helps incoming refugees by not only providing shelter, but also with their immediate needs such as referrals for education, health, legal aid, immigration documentation, counselling and translation services.
The overall group that Casa El Norte focuses on is refugees although "refugee" is a blanket term when it comes to exactly who they helped.
In the beginning, they focused on Central Americans fleeing the Salvadoran Civil War. Though as time moved on they also helped more Kosovars, Bosnians, and Africans.
Casa El Norte is licensed for up to 12 residents at a time and are almost always at capacity.

The services that Casa El Norte are designed to help build a diverse, energetic and productive community in Fort Erie. Casa El Norte strives to cater to all of their residents needs and their services represent just that.
One of Casa El Norte's biggest challenges presently is the lack of affordable housing, which makes it more difficult for residents to find housing and move out.
