If you are inspired to help a fellow student achieve academic success, follow the instructions below to complete and submit the mentor application. That's it! Shortly after submitting, look for an invitation on Canvas to join the Mentors group, where you will be asked to watch a short informational video and take a quiz. Your application to be a mentor will not be complete until you've successfully passed the quiz.
Instructions
Complete the application.. You must be logged in to your NHUSD email account to access the link.
Carefully read the agreement at the end of the application before submitting it. Please have a parent/guardian review your application so they are aware of your participation in the Mentoring program.
Virtual mentoring requires mentors use an appropriate video conferencing app that allows recording of all meetings. These recordings should be saved in a google drive folder, to which you can submit a shared link (with permission to view) on Canvas for mentors as evidence to verify the hours reported for community service.
Mentors will be awarded community service for their time mentoring. Make a copy of the Math Mentoring Log form linked below in your google drive and use it to keep track of your time. See instructions on the form. Submit a shared link (with permission to EDIT) on Canvas for mentors so Mr. Prucha can verify the hours you report for community service.
IMPORTANT: Mentoring sessions should last 30 minutes to an hour. Therefore, the maximum community service awarded for any session is one hour, even if you should meet for a longer period of time.
Please check your school email regularly for important information and announcements regarding the mentoring program.
Any mentor who does not fulfill his or her responsibilities detailed in the application agreement will be terminated from the program.
Did you know? You can apply to be a mentor at any time during the school year and you can mentor more than one student if your schedule allows it!!!
