High Interest Work Readiness Programs
Our Highway to Work Youth Employment Program is a partnership between La Familia and the Alameda County Probation Department to serve youth ages 14 to 19 that are on Probation. The program is designed to help youth gain employment and career skills through development workshops, paid internships, and strong case management services. The goal of the program is to help guide them through a series of successful job trainings and subsidized work experiences, to help them compete in today’s competitive workforce.
Services are provided in the cities of San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Hayward, Castro Valley, Dublin, Pleasanton, Livermore, Union City, Fremont, and Newark.
The Cypress Mandela Training Center is a community based organization dedicated to improving the lives of the people it serves by providing pre-apprentice construction and life skills training along with employment assistance.
Our Career Readiness Program is a partnership between La Familia and Alameda County’s Workforce Innovations and Opportunity Act (WIOA) to serve youth and young adults ages 16 to 24 who are disconnected from school (i.e., haven’t completed high school or in between high school and college) and have some type of barrier (i.e., low income, on probation, in foster care, Etc.). This program is designed to help students reconnect with their educational pursuit (i.e., finish High School Diploma/GED, or enroll into a College/Training Program), assist with finding a career, or receive help acquiring a job. A dedicated Case Manager will help each student create an action plan and help them navigate through the process until their goal is complete.
Services are provided in the cities of Union City, Fremont, Newark, Dublin, Pleasanton, and Livermore.
JOBCORPS is the largest free residential education and job training program for young adults ages 16 - 24.

The Trades Orientation Program is a free, one-year program that will put you on the pathway to apprenticeship and a rewarding career in the high demand construction trades. No experience is necessary, just a high school diploma or GED, reliable transportation, and the commitment to show up on time every day ready to work and to learn.
