Vex IQ at Woodbury Middle School

In addition to developing our own program, we've been working to develop similar programs throughout our district. Last year, Woodbury Middle School began hosting two Vex IQ teams with around 12 students last year; Since then we've assisted and mentored those students through the process of designing a competitive robot. This year, the program exploded to include approximately 60 students; they are expected to compete at two events spring and we couldn't be more excited! Stay tuned for more updates on how they're doing.

FIRST Lego League in our Elementary Schools

Last summer we started laying the groundwork for a strong FIRST LEGO League program in our elementary schools with a week-long summer camp that ran the 2016-17 game Animal Allies. This year, each of our 5 elementary schools has an FLL program, something we are ecstatic to see happen! Like the middle school program, we assist and mentor these elementary school students and help them learn more about science and technology.

Future Projects

We have several new and exciting opportunities that we are currently working on and expecting to launch in coming school years. We currently have a five-year program growth plan in place with goals that include:

• Partnering with the Girls who Code program at our school
• Developing curriculum for robotics education within the classroom
• Hosting FIRST Robotics-related events and public outreach presentations
