Goal is 1200 minutes of reading this summer!
Children count every 20 minutes they spend reading (story time participation, reading to your child, and magazines all count!)
Earn a small prize for every 2 hours of reading completed
Get a book and certificate from NHFPL for completing all 1200 minutes
Grand prize: Complete the challenge to enter a raffle to win a private tour of the Yale Peabody Museum for a child and a caregiver
Bring your reading log to school in the fall and earn more prizes.

Teen Graphic Novels American Association of School Librarian Summer Reading Suggestions
This year’s Summer Learning Challenge theme is Level UP at Your Library
Pick up your booklet at any NHFPL location.
Cross out each spot on the READopoly game board as you complete a task. (You do not have to go in order!)
Earn up to ten (10) tickets towards our prize raffles as you progress through the game:
Earn one (1) ticket each time you complete all 4 spots in a color category
Earn one (1) ticket after visiting all 5 library locations.
Earn one (1) ticket for completing the entire board.
What can I do with these raffle tickets?
Turn in your READopoly board at any branch library or the Ives Main Library . We will tally the number of tickets you have earned.
Use your tickets to enter raffle drawings for one or more of our three prizes:
A one (1) month membership to Elm City Games,
A one (1) month membership to MakeHaven,
A guided tour of Lost in New Haven.
Can I win multiple gift card raffles? You can only win one, but you’re welcome to enter as many gift card raffles as you’d like. Once your name is drawn you will be disqualified from winning additional gift cards.

Once you have logged into MackinVIA with your NHPS log-in you will have access to all ebooks and databases.
A-Z Challenge ~ Read/Write/Do using the alphabet for example: A= art, B= biography, C= Cook
Rainbow Reading ~ Read a books that have book covers in the colors of the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple)
Genre Challenge ~ How many different genres can your read? Realistic/Historical/ Science Fiction, Fantasy, Poetry, Biography, Graphic Novel, Art, Music, Sports, Cooking, Adventure, Animal, Folktale/fairytale, Math, Health...
Map Challenge ~ Read across the United States or the world wherever your story takes place
Listen to an audiobook
Read a book series
Send a postcard to your teacher from last year or to your teacher for next year describing one of your Read~Write~Do activities
Write a review and/or a recommendation on one of your Read~Write~Do activities and post it on your social media and tag NHFPL [@NHFPL] , your school [check your school's website], and the NHPS librarian [@LibrariansLeaf]

Write a story, a comic, a how-to, poem...
Cook something from a recipe you have or from a recipe book
Hold a book discussion books with others who have also read the same book
Read aloud to a sibling/parent/ doll/pet/plant...
Read in a park, at the pool, in the woods, at the beach,
Create a video book review using Screencastify, Flipgrid, or video from your phone and share it
