Teaching Trip

2 day trip to Camp Don Lee in Arapahoe, NC. Includes team building activities, Kiersey Temperament Sorter, leadership seminar, and team obstacle course. Estimated Cost $125


Washington, DC 

Teaching Trip

5 day trip to Washington, DC. Enhancement of multiple Lyceum courses using the resources of the Smithsonian Museums, Holocaust Museum, Arlington National Cemetery, Kennedy Center, and the National Archives emphasizing US History connections and concepts. End of January each year for all students.  Estimated Cost $500


Appalachian Trip 

Teaching Trip

3 day trip to western North Carolina. Includes habitat studies and interactions in Pisgah and Cherokee National Forests, Nolichucky Gorge, and the Grandfather Mountain International Biosphere Reserve. Field study for the AP Environmental Science curriculum. Takes place in September for all students. Estimated cost $350.


International Travel 

Enhancement Trips, Post-Graduation

8-17 day trips to destinations of the students’ choice. Past destinations include Italy, Spain, Greece, France, England, 17-day European Capitals Tour, Costa Rica, and Ecuador. These post graduation opportunities are not associated with New Hanover County Schools. June and July post graduation. Prices have ranged from $1750-$3800. 

Fundraising

There are multiple fundraising opportunities to support families in each of these experiential learning opportunities. Fundraisers include: Attractions Books in August/ September and Poinsettia Sales in December. There are also scholarships available to help defer some of the costs. It is the policy of Lyceum to never leave a student out of an experiential learning opportunity due to financial reasons.
