Meet Mrs. Lang!

This is my 10th year teaching and my first official year teaching music at Porters Neck Elementary.  I attribute my musical abilities to all of my music teachers who inspired and encouraged me throughout my K-12 experience. Originally from Suffern, New York (which is 35 miles north and west of New York City) I was lucky to attend public schools in a district in Rockland County, New York where the arts were heavily supported and funded.  I am classically trained on the piano, but I also sing and play flute, drums and guitar.  I studied music privately as well as in college at SUNY New Paltz.  I have an Associate's Degree from Rockland Community College and I finished my Bachelor's Degree at University of North Carolina Wilmington in Recreation Therapy.  I later obtained my teaching license from UNCW in 2013.  In addition to having my K-12 Music certification, I am also certified in K-6 Elementary Ed as well as K-12 Special Education.

My true passion in life is for music so I am beyond grateful to be able to teach my subject! I have a beautiful daughter named Soleil who is in 2nd grade this school year at Porters Neck Elementary.  I also have a "bonus" daughter who is in 10th grade at Laney High School.  My family and I love to take trips to mountains and the beach! We love camping, spending time outdoors and playing board games like Yahtzee, Farkle, Five Crowns, UNO, Monopoly and Battleship. We all LOVE to listen and dance to music whenever possible! My other "happy place" is being on stage performing with my band, Uptown Easy.  I am truly blessed to be able to share my music with others in so many ways! I look forward to a FANTASTIC school year of making music and performing with our students!!
