Click the link above to check out a new podcast geared toward band parents. If you've ever been confused about band and why we do what we do, this podcast will be enlightening and entertaining!
All 7th and 8th grade band and orchestra students are working on small ensembles this quarter
Students are working as duets or trios to learn a song of their choice from a packet of folk music. Students will have the opportunity to perform on Fridays for the class for tickets if they are ready.
Band students will have the opportunity to participate in Solo Ensemble Festival on Saturday, May 9 in New Bern
All students may opt to perform in the lobby at the spring concerts
3-ring binder (1-inch) with clear cover, will stay in the band room
Pencil pouch
Pencils (Ticonderoga) - keep 3 in pouch
Non-glare sheet protectors (3-5 for 6th grade, 5-8 for 7th & 8th grade)
Loose leaf notebook paper (10 sheets)
When renting or buying an instrument, think of it like getting a car. You want to get a brand name instrument so that when (not if) it needs to go to the shop, there will be parts available to repair it and keep it in good working condition.
I advise against getting an instrument from anywhere that you can also get groceries, clothes, or tires. You want to get a quality instrument that will work properly for your beginning band student.
If your child shows up with an instrument that is not suitable (not a name brand, in poor condition, does not work properly), I will let you know so that we can set him or her up for success.
If you have any questions or problems getting an instrument, contact me ASAP and let me know what is going on. I can help if I'm aware of your needs!
