Beginning Band

Beginning Band Method Book

We will use the Beginning Band Book Part 1, available below.  Make sure to download and print a copy that is specific to your instrument!

Musical Tip: You should be practicing 20-30 minutes each night. Prepare for the next class ahead of time! Band is fun (and can seem easy) if you put effort into it. The more you practice, the better you become, and the more fun it is!

What instruments can I play?

All beginning band students will start on flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, or trombone. Once you have a solid foundation on one of these instruments, there will be an opportunity to audition for other instruments such as percussion (not just drums), bass clarinet, French horn, baritone, and other "color" voices. You will have to demonstrate good effort and work ethic to be invited to audition for another section, as they are school-owned instruments and are expensive to repair or replace.
