About the Fair

About the Fair

Parents of students with disabilities in Preschool through High School & community participants, "Drop In" to talk with participating agencies, support groups, employers and post-secondary sites (including job training sites, community colleges & 4-year colleges) in order to gather information related to transition planning for ALL ages. It's never too early to begin transition planning!

New for the 2019 Transition Fair will be Parent's Night which will include participating agencies, support groups, and post-secondary sites, but also informational sessions on Transition practices in New Hanover County Schools!

Students and parents will have many questions:

What do I need to do in Preschool? Elementary School? In Middle School? In High School?

What support groups, agencies, and/or services are out there to help me plan for transition?

Why do I need to plan ahead?

What are the options available to me?

What are the requirements for a work training site, community college or 4-year college?

What colleges offer me support in the post-secondary environment?

What kind of work do I want to do, and are there any jobs?

Where do I need to start to get assistance and support for independent living?

What are the different ways my child can train or be educated beyond high school with or without dorm experience?

Come and teach our youth what it takes to make it in today’s world!
