Expectations for Inducted Members:
Maintain at least the minimum required 3.5 GPA throughout their senior year.
Continue to reflect the high standards of scholarship, leadership, service and character that were used as a basis for selection. The standards of the four pillars can be found in our chapter bylaws. Failure to do this will result in probationary status, additional required hours, and/or dismissal.
Attend meetings - meetings will be held digitally every month. Members are expected to attend every meeting. Stay up to date on events and announcements through our New Hanover High School NHS course on the Canvas site.
Earn 40 hours of service before graduation - Members must earn hours from a combination of individual service projects, group directed projects, and tutoring other students (not family members). All service projects must be approved before a member proceeds with its implementation. Thus, the Service Project Form must be filled out and submitted to Mrs. Raynor for approval prior to the event. Updates for opportunities will be shared at meetings and through announcements made on our NHS Canvas site. All service projects must be validated on an NHS Service form and must be pre-approved by Mrs. Raynor before you volunteer. If you order a NHS stole for graduation and would like to receive it at the induction ceremony, be sure to have all 40 hours completed by the cermony date.
Pay National Honor Society dues - Dues of $35 are required. This must be paid online through New Hanover's new parent pay system.
Participate in the Spring Induction Ceremony - Time and place to be determined.
Wearing a stole for Graduation - In order to earn a stole, students must be in good standing with the chapter and fulfill a minimum meeting and service requirements, along with other hours of their choice, which must total at least 40 hours by our May meeting.
