My name is Emily DeSpain, Professional School Counselor.
I am excited to start my second year at Murray Middle School! For the 2025-2026 school year, I will be working with all 6th grade students and 8th grade students last names A-K.

I was born in raised in Pinehurst, North Carolina a small town about two hours away. Fun fact, I attended North Carolina State University and majored in French Language & Literature with a concentration in Education.
Following graduation, I taught abroad in Guadeloupe, a French territory in the Carribean, for a year. Upon my return to the states, I started working as an ELL teacher and then transitioned to teaching French. After teaching for five years, I eventually found myself back in school and pursued a Master's in School Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. This will be my fourth year serving as a School Counselor and I look forward to working with you here at Murray!
When I'm not working I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, about anything outdoors or active and walking with these two :)
