About Ms. Brown's Classes
During STAR we work on math IEP goals and objectives. We also practice our academic and self-advocacy skills needed to show success in middle school and beyond!
During Math, we work to develop problem-solving skills and strategies, including the use of visualization strategies, making observations and drawing conclusions, and using logical reasoning and systematic thinking to make sense of the real world.
In our classroom, we work to effectively communicate, persevere through challenges, problem-solve both with academic and social content, self-monitor our understanding, and grow as learners and community members. We set goals for ourselves and help each other reach our goals.

During this time we will work to set individual goals for the day. We use this time to prepare for a productive school day, making sure to take the time to get organized, review our schedules for the day, or simply touch base before heading to our first class.

Students will help to monitor their own progress towards their math IEP goals and objectives, and assist in creating a portfolio to present at their IEP meeting.
During STAR, we try to make things fun! Students practice basic facts, pattern recognition, context building, logical thinking and more!
Here, students practice their inferencing skills through a game of Clue!
