What time does school start/end?
School begins at 7:40 am and ends at 2:35 pm. The children may come into the classroom at 7:15 am. I recommend them getting there between 7:15 and 7:30 am in order to get morning work completed before the announcements come on at 7:40. Students are marked as tardy if arriving after 7:40. If your child is going to eat breakfast in the cafeteria, and is a car rider, please be sure they are here by 7:15 am in order to have enough time to eat. Please remind them that they must go to the cafeteria first before coming to the classroom. School begins dismissing at 2:35.
Checking Student In and Out of school
If your child arrives after 11:15 am or gets checked out before 11:15, they are considered absent. If you are checking your child out of school, please pick up by 1:45 and bring proper ID with you.
What do I do if we arrive late to school?
Please come into the office to sign your child in if you arrive after 7:40 am. Your child must have a Tardy slip from the office to be admitted to class.
Can I come eat lunch with my child?
Yes! Please just give me a heads up before hand.
Can I bring a special lunch for my child?
Yes, you are welcome to bring your child lunch. We would prefer that you bring milk/juice instead of soda.
When are library books due?
Library books are due on the day our class has library (check your child's daily folder sheet). Students may check out one book at a time. On our library day, the librarian will let your child check out a new book if they return the book they checked out the week before.
How can I contact you?
My phone number at school is (910)790-5067 ext. 74006. This rings to my voice mail during school hours. I will check it and return your call when I can, usually after the students leave in the afternoon. You may also send notes in your child's binder and I will respond to them as soon as possible. The best way to contact me, and get a quick reply, is through e-mail @sheena.ennett@nhcs.net or the Remind app.
What can I do to help my child at home?
The most important thing you can do to help your child this year is to stay involved with their school work. Continue to check their work sent home and have conversations with your child about what they did that day. While I don't require homework, it is very important that you are reading for at least 20 min every night with your child and practicing their sight words daily!
