Classroom management plan

DiGiovanni’s Behavior Plan

My goal is create an atmosphere of trust and respect in which all students feel safe and able to learn. I feel as though my expectations are high because all students can learn and all students can achieve. We positively reinforce these expectations daily through re-teaching on an as needed basis and a positive 3:1 interaction ratio with all students.

Classroom expectations: We are safe, we are thoughtful, we are accountable and we are respectful. We are STARS!

Transitions: For student transitions from tables to the carpet/line we use:

1 finger in the air stand up

2 fingers in the air push your chairs in

3 fingers in the air check your uniform shirts and stand with your hands by your side

4 fingers in the air walk with a level 0 voice with a bubble and a stick

Walking in the hallways: Students walk with a bubble and a stick, hand by their side eyes forward

Hand Signals: We use 3 hand signals in our classroom

Bathroom: Fingers crossed

Tissue: Fingers in a “V”

Pencil: Pinky in the air

Classroom incentive: Through the use of a classroom incentive students are encouraged to work together as a team to achieve a desired goal. There is a heart on my board that, when the class does something well together or gets a compliment from another teacher they get a “dot on the heart.” When they fill up the heart they get to vote on a class party.

Individual incentives: Students are rewarded daily as much as possible for following expectations in the classroom and in school. We reinforce positive behavior by giving students “poofs in their pockets.” Using a clear shoe organizer and fuzzy pom-poms students can add their reward to their own pocket when directed to do so. When the student has 10 poofs they get a trip to the treasure box to pick a treasure.

Students also receive positive phone calls for a job well done, different fun chants that the class partakes in such as: rollercoasters/good job/clam clap/looking good/ch ch ch fantastic etc.

If a student needs further behavior support, I reinforce the classroom and school expectations in the following ways:

Consequences:

1. Warning

2. Reteach expectation/conference with student

3. Relocation

4. Note/phone call home
