Sophomores

Class of 2026

SATELLITE is a five-day STEM outreach and leadership development program with the goal of exposing high school sophomores across rural and underserved communities in North Carolina to post-secondary educational opportunities in STEM. SATELLITE Campers have had the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of activities including: a field trip to the Museum of Natural Sciences, an egg drop competition, and workshops in paper science engineering, textiles, biotechnology, and life sciences led by NC State faculty and students.

The 2023 program will run from May 10th - 14th. The application requires two letters of recommendation and a few short essays pertaining to the student’s interest in the field of STEM. Due to the nature of the program, they do not consider a student’s academic success when reviewing applications, they are looking only for a student’s desire to maximize their experience at SATELLITE. The deadline to apply is March 10th, 2023. If accepted, there will be a $25 registration fee, but a limited number of need-based scholarships are available upon request.
