Applications for 2025 JTH Science Honor Society are closed, but will be available next spring.
The criteria for admission are below:
You must have an overall 85 average in your science courses with no D’s for a yearly average in any science course.
You must be a junior taking your 3rd science with a 4th science scheduled for next year or a senior taking a 4th science. If you do not take a 4th science, you will be dropped from the Science Honor Society.
You must be an active member in good standing in a science club (i.e. Science Olympiad, Envirothon, Ocean Science Quiz Bowl, etc.) with 2 consecutive years in the same science club. Active membership requires regular attendance and participation, not a once-a-semester meeting or once-a-year beach clean-up.
You must have another science-related activity. The following is a partial list of suggested or appropriate activities. There may be others that are not listed, but are equally appropriate (ask Mr. Taylor):
Science-related community service (pre-approved)
Tutoring in science areas
Taking a 5th science (AP Prep counts as a class)
Participation in science competitions or fairs
Officer in science related club
You must have two current or former science teachers agree to write a short recommendation for you.
