Listen carefully to the 2 songs below. The first one was written in 2019 and the 2nd in 1680. Even though the songs are over 300 years apart, they are "related." In your own words, describe what you hear in the music that makes them similar. Then try to use music terms to explain the similarities in the songs.
Did you listen to the song "We Are the World" on the music homepage that Cross Creek students sang? Do you know the history of this song? It was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie in the 1980"s and was recorded as a fund raiser for African famine relief. Many famous rock stars got together and recorded it just like we did. Listen to the original recording and compare and contrast the differences. If you hear a 1980's recording artist whose voice and style sounds interesting to you, look them up and listen to some of their music.

"Music is one of those special things in life that moves our souls. And what's extra special is that no 2 singers are alike. Sometimes their styles are so different that they're incomparable, but that can often make for an extraordinary collaboration together. That's what happened when singer songwriter Ed Sheeran joined forces with Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli."
