VISUAL ARTS

General Course Outlines of Art Classes offered at Perry Junior High School

ART 7 (required in Grade 7), STUDIO I (elective in grade 8, 9. Or High School),STUDIO II and COMPUTER GRAPHICS (elective in grade 8, 9, or High School. Prerequisite – Studio I).

All comprehensive visual arts classes take place everyday for 20 weeks or every other day for a total of 40 weeks. In these classes, students will explore a variety of higher level Art mediums and related techniques, expanding on their existing knowledge of the Art/Design Elements and Principles, Art Criticism, and Art History. The classes begin with discussion and activities geared toward getting to know each other, the importance of Art, and understanding the rules and procedures of the Art classroom. This should provide a good solid foundation to build upon. Most of the classes (except for Computer Graphics) are studio classes and follow a medium based curriculum with the Drawing unit being the most intensive.
