Graduation Requirements
All students are required to carry six subjects per semester. Be certain that all requirements for graduation are being met. Do not get caught short of courses in the senior year. Plan ahead with the guidance counselor.
To earn a diploma from the Newman Grove Public Schools the requirements are:
Earning 220 or more total credits and:
COURSE REQUIREMENTS: CREDIT HOURS
LANGUAGE ARTS - 40 CREDITS
Required courses: English 9, English 10, English 11, English 12.
Electives: Dual Credit English Composition, Independent Lit, Creative Writing
SOCIAL STUDIES- 30 CREDITS
Required courses: American History, American Government, World History or World Geography
Electives: Psychology, Sociology
SCIENCE - 30 CREDITS
Required courses: Physical Science and Biology I. The final 10 credits may come from the following electives: Biology II (dual credit), Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy and Physiology, Introduction to Health Careers and Medical Terminology.
MATHEMATICS - 30 CREDITS
Required courses: Algebra I, Geometry & Algebra II
Electives: Trigonometry. Calculus and Statistics (dual credit)
VOCATIONAL EDUCATION - 30 CREDITS
Required courses: 9th Explore Computer Apps, Personal Finance (5 credits), Computer Science (5 credits)
The final 20 credits may be earned from the following electives: Any Business or Agriculture classes, Human Development or Yearbook II, III, or IV.
VISUAL/PERFORMING ARTS - 10 CREDITS
The 10 credits may be earned from any of the following areas Vocal, Instrumental Music, Art, or Yearbook I.
PERSONAL HEALTH/FITNESS - 10 CREDITS
Required course: PE/Health 9.
Electives: Lifetime Sports and Strength/Conditioning.
