This week I want to challenge you to do something we have not done just yet while learning from home. I'm going to challenge you to write a story! YES, a STORY! Now, I know writing a story is sometimes very hard, especially if you don't know what to write about. I ran across a fun website that might be able to help! On this website they provided a list of some Intriguing First Lines from different stories. Below you will find a list of those first lines. To complete this challenge, pick one line and continue to write your story. It can be short or long, written down on paper or types in a Google Doc. You choose how you write your story!

NEW SCIENCE TOPIC! Our Watery Planet! This one is a bit longer so we can stretch it over the course of two days.
In this Mystery, you will use estimation and graphing to discover the surprising difference in the amounts of fresh and saltwater on Earth. In the activity, Map the World's Water, you will count squares on maps and record the amount of fresh, frozen, and salt water found in their assigned area of the world. Then you will calculate and graph how much of each type of water is present on the planet.
For the activity of this lesson, you will need the following items. You will not do the sticker bar graph activity since we are in a class. But if you wish you can also draw a bar graph to show your results.
Most importantly have fun!

Hello families and students! Welcome to Week 4 of ELP online activities. I miss all of you and would rather be together with you at school. Spring is in the air and it has never felt so good! I have been line drying my clothes and sheets (my favorite smell in the world), starting to plant some vegetables in my garden, and have planted a few flowers in the flowerbeds. We got our first lawn mow of the year in as well. I've been going for long walks with my two kids and with our Black Lab, Diesel. As always I look forward to hearing from you and the activities that you complete from this ELP Activities page. Share your crafts, daily activities, and what you have been up to, and I'll share it on here if you would like me to. Let's stay connected, even when we are apart! Miss you all so much! -Mrs. Lavrenko

I had a lot of fun trying to figure this one out! Watch the video below to get an understanding of how to play the game. Skip to 0:44 where the game is explained. If you use the 4x4 grid you play the game with 2 wolves and 3 sheep. You can find the paper 4x4 Grid that use in the video here. Or you can use a digital 4x4 grid here.
If you play the game on the web page that they have created (here) you are using a 5x5 grid , so you must add another wolf (3 wolves and 3 sheep) otherwise it is super easy to do.
Here is another version of the game. This one is trickier as you must use 5 wolves and 3 sheep.
I'm so excited for this one--let me know if you have success! Email me at alavrenko@nfv.k12.ia.us
