Class of 2022 Athletic Hall of Fame 

Induction Ceremony

The Newton Falls High School's Sports Hall of Fame, established in the summer of 2022, recognizes outstanding achievements in athletics by graduates of Newton Falls High School as well as coaches and honorary inductees. 

The Newton Falls High School Athletic Hall of Fame is proud to announce the inductees for our inuagural HOF Class of 2022: 

• Gerald Lenarcic 

• Jack Kucek 

• Gene Zorn 

• Reid Lamport

• Joseph Ries

• James Heber

• George Harnichar

• Harry Pontius 

• Robert Shaulis 

• Earnie Shavers

Inductees and their families are invited to attend a small ceremony on Friday, January 20th at 6 PM in the High School Auditorium where light refreshments will be served. Inductees will be announced and acknowledged at half time of the Boys Varsity Basketball game at Lordstown on Saturday, January 21st, 2023. 

Congratulations to the inductees and their families for your outstanding contributions to Newton Falls High School athletics! 

Submissions for Hall of Fame inductions are carefully considered by the Newton Falls High School Athletic Council which consists of the following individuals: 

• Athletic Director

• High School Principal

• Assistant High School/Junior High School Principal

• Head Coach from each sport

• One member from the Athletic Boosters

• Two members from the Board of Education

• Superintendent

Applications will be accepted until October 1st. The Council will review and qualify all nominations by confirming achievements (may request input from the nominating committee members), reviewing character history, considering any other contributing information. The Council will select the inductees for each year’s HOF induction class. Inductees (or their family in the event of a deceased inductee) will be notified after October 1st of their selection.

Recognition:

• A Hall of Fame Room located at Newton Falls Exempted Village School District, Newton Falls High School, will be the official site and archives of the Newton Falls Athletic Hall of Fame.

• An individual plaque will be awarded to each inductee. 

• The Hall of Fame Induction will be held on-site during a ceremony held at half time during basketball season. 

• Up to 8 inductees will be accepted for each class. No more than 1 team will be inducted per year.
