The Newton Falls High School's Sports Hall of Fame, established in the summer of 2022, recognizes outstanding achievements in athletics by graduates of Newton Falls High School as well as coaches and honorary inductees.
ELIGIBILITY:
THERE ARE FIVE TYPES OF NOMINEES INTO THE NEWTON FALLS HIGH SCHOOL'S SPORTS HALL OF FAME, EACH WITH UNIQUE CRITERIA:
ATHLETE
Must have graduated from Newton Falls High School at least 5 years prior to selection.
Must have distinguished her or himself as an outstanding student athlete, including achievements such as:
Varsity level of competition
Leadership
Impact on athletic program
All-Scholastic, All-Star Team, All-Ohio, or State Champion
School, State, or National record holder
COACH OR ATHLETIC ADMINISTRATOR
Must have served on the staff of the Newton Falls Exempted Village School District in support of the athletic program
Must have retired from his or her position or left the school
LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT
Must have graduated from Newton Falls High School at least 5 years prior to selection
Must have made a significant impact in the field of athletics as a postgraduate
May not otherwise qualify in another category
HONORARY
An honorary nominee must have made a significant impact on the Newton Falls High School athletic program and would not otherwise qualify as an athlete, coach, or athletic administrator.
TEAM
A team nomination must have made a significant impact on the Newton Falls High School athletic program. Teams must have competed at least 5 years prior to selection.
Submissions for Hall of Fame inductions are carefully considered by the Newton Falls High School Athletic Council which consists of the following individuals:
Athletic Director
High School Principal
Assistant High School/Junior High School Principal
Head Coach from each sport
One member from the Athletic Boosters
Two members from the Board of Education
Superintendent
Applications will be accepted until October 1st. The Council will review and qualify all nominations by confirming achievements (may request input from the nominating committee members), reviewing character history, considering any other contributing information. The Council will select the inductees for each year’s HOF induction class. Inductees (or their family in the event of a deceased inductee) will be notified after October 1st of their selection.
Recognition:
A Hall of Fame Room located at Newton Falls Exempted Village School District, Newton Falls High School, will be the official site and archives of the Newton Falls Athletic Hall of Fame.
An individual plaque will be awarded to each inductee.
The Hall of Fame Induction will be held on-site during a ceremony held at half time during basketball season.
Up to 8 inductees will be accepted for each class. No more than 1 team will be inducted per year.
Submissions are accepted throughout the year and nomination forms are valid for FIVE years. After this time has expired, the candidate's name may be resubmitted on a new application form.
