Our 11&U Cricketers Hit Their Way To Second In The League

Some of the older and more experienced members of our squad finished the official season on a real high last week! They were first involved in a fantastic afternoon of Cricket in a double-header against the Australian International School. In the first game they set a formidable total that couldn’t be chased down, to win by 37 runs. The Aussies then fought back hard in game 2 and brought about the first ever tied game of 11&U Cricket we’ve ever seen?!

And then just one day later, they travelled out to Dulwich College for another double-header fixture. It is fair to say the wickets were falling and the runs were flowing. Our little cricketers managed to win the first game by 26 runs and then raised their bat taking the next game by 50 runs!

The highlight being the great level of respect, enjoyment and excellence that was shown from all teams involved across the 4 games. That also means Nexus climb to second on the league table as the season draws to a close. A huge improvement from the year before and a real indication of the development that has gone on within the whole squad this year.

A reminder that some of our younger squad members still have a friendly fixture or two to finish the season off. More details to follow via email.

14&U Girls Basketball Finish Season In A Four-Way Tie For First Place

This last week has seen the culmination of the 14&U girls basketball season and the team ended with a great flourish by winning their last two games on either side of the May day holiday. The first game saw the girls to come back dramatically from behind in the last minute to win by 32-29 points. The second game proved to be more one sided with the girls winning by a margin of 30 points. There are a couple of other games yet to be played in the league but we will be placed somewhere in the top three. A very enjoyable season and well done to the entire squad and of course their coach Adrian.

11&U Netballers Impress At ACSIS Finals

The 11&U netball season finished on Saturday with a bang and was a great way to round off what has been a great year of netball for Nexus. We had two teams entered into 11&U, with one made up of 9/10&Us for experience but over the season won over half their games and our top 11&U team who got promoted to Division 1 and finished 6th overall.

I would like to take the chance to thank every learner and parent who has been involved in Netball at Nexus over the two years I have been here. The learners commitment and enthusiasm has been amazing and because of this we have had some fantastic results, including 9&U Div 1 Gold 2018 and Silver in 2019 and 10&U Div 1 Bronze. I hope this continues into next year and I wish you all the best of luck!

Twenty athletes represented our school at the ACSIS 12&U/14&U Track & Field Championships, last Saturday 27th April. We competed against the best of Singapore’s athletes and achieved great success. All athletes who represented Nexus at this event displayed determination and commitment to achieve their personal bests. Many of our athletes were placed in heats and minor placings. Congratulations to you all.

Dragon's Den Open International Swim Championships 2019

A team of 40 swimmers took part in the Dragon's Den Open International Swim Championships at UWC East from Friday to Sunday. With 18 teams from all over South East Asia taking part, Nexus swam very well despite a number of swimmers being unable to attend the meet. The whole team demonstrated determination and enthusiasm throughout the competition, gaining many personal best performances and a number of medals. Amongst many Pb’s and 1st place ribbons and medals, all members of the team worked hard for the school and a number of them reached the finals. Well done!

ACSIS Champions - Success For Our 12&U Girls Football Team

The 12&U girls football game finished the season on a high note winning their last two games and claiming the title as ACSIS champions! The first game was against a much improved Dulwich team. Dulwich had a few chances throughout the game but they were unable to crack our small but mighty dynamic goalie Navah, who impressed everyone with her skills in net. Our final game was at home against NPS and the girls hit the pitch excited for their final match. The enthusiasm was flowing and our superstar midfield team of Ema and Grace kept the team in the offensive zone for most of the game with their excellent ball handling skills. The NPS goalie was a force to be reckoned with this time around and despite peppering her with shots Ema was the only one able to get the ball past her with a final result of 2-0. The girls should all be proud of their great team effort this year and their progression in skill. Girls who had never played a game of football before have become solid players that can be relied on to hold their own against any player. A special thank you to Ms. Michele for her enthusiasm and support all season and for her fantastic oranges at half time that were the secret to our success! Well done girls you have a lot to be proud of this season. See you on the pitch next year!

Mrs. Pippa Thomson - 12&U Girls Football Coach
