The start of term has been excellent, and it has been great to see so many new learners and their families joining our community: you are all very welcome! Please make sure you all read the NPG page of this newsletter for some important information and also on how to join the NPG Facebook group. Last Wednesday we held a Welcome Evening for new parents where we gave everyone an overview of the school's operations and an introduction to the Nexus Way.
Developed by all sections of the community, the Nexus Way is becoming ever more embedded in our school and community. The four elements of the Nexus Way (Relationships, Inclusion, Mindsets and Innovation) guide our whole approach to teaching and learning, and it is so powerful to view our work through these four lenses. During this week, our teachers have been very innovative, working on further development of their pedagogies and their use of more open learning environments. Incredible relationships between learners and teachers were fully in evidence at this week's Year 7 to 9 Sports Day which you can read more about here.
Years 11 and 13 are in the middle of their Trial Exam Period and are making good progress through this, the last practice exam session before the real one in May.
As ever, there is lots going on this term including the school production: The Wizard Of Oz. A full date list can be found in the calendar below but some key dates have been extracted here.
As for new initiatives for this term, the Duke Of Edinburgh Award Scheme was launched to Years 9&10 last week and learners are encouraged to sign up to join a programme which offers so many elements, from personal challenges to service opportunities. The Model United Nations (MUN) is a very popular programme which involves debating global issues in competitions with other schools in Singapore and overseas and I thoroughly commend it to learners.
I look forward to meeting you all at upcoming events as we progress through the term.
