Join Nexus International School (Singapore) to MAKE A BALD STATEMENT at Hair for Hope 2021!
Our classmate and friend, Joseph Loy, passed away from cancer recently. He was a huge part of our Nexus community and it would mean a lot to all of us if anybody wanted to get involved in raising childhood cancer awareness. Regardless of how you wanted to help - either as a shavee or just by donating, it would mean so much to us. We're hoping that we'll be able to have more than 20 shavees and raise at least $13,000 for Children's Cancer Society to surpass our previous HFH event, which saw us raising $12,819.96"
Thank you,
Hugo, Taiga & Maya (Year 12)
In memory of our beloved friend, schoolmate, learner and son - Joseph Loy.

Our community sing along is back to celebrate the end of the year! Our theme is 'Reach for the Stars' and we welcome all families and friends from our Nexus Community to get involved. In December we had huge support from many Nexus families who joined in with our online singing sessions, videoed, recorded or participated in all 3! The response from our community was so positive, so we are thrilled to be running this again and hope to get many more of you on board too.
Song Choice
Bringing out the old classic of 'Reach for the Stars'. Such an upbeat and fun-filled song. You can even add actions to this one!
Online Singing Sessions
We will run sessions for online singing together on Saturday 15th May; 10am and Monday 17th May 7pm. We had over 200 families join us last time, so get in on the action!
Website
We have formalised all the information in our one stop website. You will find the lyrics, music and backing track here. Plus how to video and record yourself as well as where to upload so that you can part of the final cut. Just click here for the website!
We have been working really hard in music to prepare amazing music by our amazing musicians in the hope that we can bring this to you live! Due to recent Covid announcements we are working through these on a daily basis, however here is the updated information.
Music Recitals
Secondary Recitals will continue to take place on Tuesday 11th May at 6.30pm. Learners will rehearse during the day, they are expected to go home and return for entry to the auditorium from 6.15pm. However for the audience we are only able to allow 1 person per child performing to come and watch. We understand this will be disappointing and apologies in advance, we do believe that the experience of performing on the stage to a live audience is invaluable and preferable to making recordings where possible. We would like to thank parents for your continued support.
Music Ensembles Concert
This has currently been postponed to Wednesday 9th June. This is in the hope that restrictions will go back to how they were when we first presented this event to the CPE. Please place this date in your diaries and we will be in contact in due course. The ensembles due to perform are:
Beginner Violins
Beginner Flute and Recorders
Y1 and 2 Ukulele
Y3 and 4 Ukulele
Primary Orchestra
I’m sure everybody remembers 'Revival', the learner-led company, that developed and sold an innovative laptop bag made from recycled canvas bags winning “Singapore Company of the Year 2020” (and best Business Report), then going onto the regional finals to become “Asia Pacific company of the Year 2020”.

We are now ready for the De La Vega Global Entrepreneurship Award. The final of finals takes place in early June, we wish team Revival (representing, Nexus, Singapore and the Asia Pacific) the best of luck. The winning company get a cash prize of $15000 US, we have all our fingers crossed!! Good luck Revival we know you can do it!

As our work to welcome our new Year 7 learners continues, the Middle Years Pastoral Team are excited to be commencing our Year 6 'Learner Meets' on Monday afternoon.
Ms Sarah and Mr Massey will be having an informal 'Afternoon Tea' drop in session with small groups of Year 6 learners which will provide an opportunity to develop relationships, ask questions and find out a little bit more about Year 7.
During these informal sessions, we are inviting learners to share with us their thoughts and feelings about moving up into secondary school.
