In line with the chosen Global Goal on 'No Poverty', our Y11 Global Perspectives learners planned an obstacle course for Y7s to help them get a better insight into the many challenges faced by millions to access clean water and food.
In the meantime, our Year 8s embarked on a lesson simulation looking into how disparities in one's dwelling areas may affect their quality of life. They were able to understand the different poverty lines and circumstances that exist globally, thus allowing them to be more aware and empathetic to others.
As part of #GlobalGoals Day 2 at Nexus, our learners took action by embarking on a variety of activities and lessons centred around "Good Health & Well-Being". From our older Year 11 learners who encouraged our Nexus families to leave notes of positivity and encouragement for the community, and conducted a meditation session for their juniors in Year 7 (virtually), to our Year 2s who shared with us what well-being means to them!

Our Year 5s worked hard to create content to demonstrate their learnings about "Conflict Resolution". It is so wonderful to see what they've done and the issues they've highlighted (more can be found on our Facebook page).
During Humanities lesson, our Year 9s had an immersive and insightful lesson into World War I where they had to step into the shoes of the countries involved in the conflict. Their aim was to understand the challenges involved in conflict resolution, enabling them to reflect on how a restorative approach can be a more effective solution!

Year 4's recent project saw them taking action for Responsible Consumption & Production - our chosen 4th #GlobalGoal! By inventing their own water pot pulleys and visiting the school's next door canal to collect water samples to continue their analysis back in their homeroom. They also researched into why canals are built.
Through this project, our learners are discovering how water plays such a vital role as an essential resource on Earth and why we should all be responsible consumers of it.
We celebrated the end of Global Goals Week by having a dress-up to the theme of 'When I Grow Up'! We also had a powerful message in assembly about lifelong opportunities for all as part of our Quality Education focus. Our Take Action group 'Girl Power' presented on Gender Equality - we could not be more proud of these young people that are making a difference!
Thank you to our learners (and parents) for the most spectacular dress ups!
