From our Head of Secondary

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Thank you for your continued support as we all do what we can under the social distancing guidelines. It was lovely to meet so many of you online through the Year 7 drop-in session. I hope the Year 7 Parents Evening helped you gain further clarity around your child's learning and progress. I firmly believe that learners do best when home and school work in partnership. We understand you may not have experienced the curriculum your child is studying and that it may seem very different to your own experiences of education. With this in mind, Mr Sonny and I would like to offer you an opportunity to meet with us to learn more about IGCSE (the Y10 and Y11) curriculum through an informal online drop-in session on Wednesday, 7 October between 6pm and 7pm. Please sign up on the Google Form so we can send you the link to join us. Please use this form to request topics you would like us to cover or to post questions. Please complete the Google Form before 12pm on Wednesday 7th. There are further videos in this edition of the newsletter to help you meet more of the teams that support your child's learning.

We all want our learners/children to be educated as they take their productive place as leaders in the global community. I have been pleased to see several learners come forward and apply to be lead learners to represent sports, service, learner voice, wellbeing and curriculum and I look forward to starting work with these future leaders next week. The United Nations Global Goals Week that the school celebrated last week has reinforced that we are living in a global community and has helped all learners understand their choices and actions can have an impact (read more about it here). Some of you may have been involved in creating the Nexus definition of International Mindedness.

Nexus is a truly international school and we are proud to learn more from each other and with each other. We all need to make time to relax and spend time with family and friends as we face the global pandemic together. Please use the break to look out for each others' well-being and have some fun (while being socially distant of course).

Wishing you and your family a happy Mid-Autumn Festival this week!

祝你和你的家人中秋快乐!

Best wishes,

Heather
