It was a pleasure to share The Nexus Way with new parents last Tuesday and take them through the elements which are essential to our very core. For those present, the key elements of Relationships, Inclusion, Mindsets and Innovation really resonated with their experiences of Nexus thus far. Human relationships and how we repair them when they break down is a key part of our ethos and that is demonstrated throughout the community at all levels; our integrated use of Restorative Practice helps us all to get stronger. Our Open Mindsets encourage lifelong learning, creativity and risk-taking. Our Inclusive approach to learning ensures that all learners are challenged, no matter what there starting point. In terms of Innovation, we assured the audience that this is not all about computers; we innovate in so many ways through pedagogical developments, our learning environments and even through the way we structure the learning. We are so excited about taking the Nexus Way to the new campus and have been deliberately planning how to do this for the last three years to ensure the school ethos remains and grows even stronger.
On to more operational matters, last week's trip to Kranji for Year 8 was an excellent learning experience which you can read more about here, along with reports on the Model United Nations Conference and a recent Year 10 session on Study Skills which was hosted by Year 11 learners.
The IB Art Exhibition started last Wednesday and it was outstanding. The range of work is so large that the exhibition has been split into two halves - some of the Year 13 candidates exhibited this week and the others will take centre stage next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Please do drop in to see some very powerful work.
Our fabulous school production is on this coming week. Once again it features a truly innovative and exciting approach from our director and her team to the story of the Wizard of Oz. The cast and crew and production team have worked tirelessly for months, and have given up many weekends in the process. We wish them every success with their three evening shows and we are sure that those lucky enough to have secured tickets will have a great time!
Term 3 seems to be shooting by! There are only two weeks to go before the break and in that time we have:
Further details about the start of next term can be found here.
Have a good weekend and for those of you participating in the Race To The East - have fun!
