It was great to see the continued commitment from our Year 11 artists on Saturday last week when they attended the weekend support session. Their focus and developed ideas have grown over the two year course and now the hard work is paying off. There are some interesting and skilful outcomes which learners should all be very proud of.

In the weeks before Earth Day on April 22nd, our Year 9 learners are working on their Green Technology project. The focus this year is Sustainable Built Environments; taking environmental factors into consideration when planning and constructing new buildings. To begin the project, a visiting speaker who is an expert in Sustainable Built Environments came into school to talk to the Year 9 learners. Using this information, learners then began to plan their designs and build them. Every year during the Green Technology project, Science teachers are astonished at the creativity and dedication that learners demonstrate. Learners are usually able to show and discuss their learning during a Learning Exhibition for parents, but this year with CoVid-19, we may need to be more innovative in how learners exhibit their finished models and videos.

Last week our learners interviewed our Principal, Judy Cooper about the Nexus Way.
This week they started to collect evidence of the Nexus Way in action. Together we will create an Apple iBook about the Nexus Way and how technology interweaves with what we are and what we do. In the coming weeks we will continue development of this iBook. This is part of the learner’s internal assessment.

One of our talented parents came in to share his 10 top tips for succeeding in life.
He works in a high pressure industry, Marketing. His tips on relationship building and how hard work leads to success were fantastic! So much to take away and apply to life now and in the future. We’re very grateful for Jamie’s time.
