2022 Unit 1 in Semester Two, done!

Another action packed few weeks in PHE, and the learners have come to the end of their first unit for semester two. 7B and 7R have just completed their Balls, Bats and Bases (Striking and Fielding) unit. Their Criterion B assessment was to create an authentic game which included the components of Striking and Fielding, based on games such as Cricket, Rounders, Softball etc. Below are some snippets from some of the games they created and taught to their friends.

7Y loved taking part in a variety of Track and Field events for their Solo Superstars unit. They spent time exploring the Key Concept of ‘Development’ and enjoyed meeting the Statement of Inquiry: ‘Using adaptations and energy, and having motivation will ultimately lead to better overall development and progress’. Below is an example of part of the Criterion D Reflection assessment they completed to describe and summarize their performance.

7G and 7W got stuck into their Net Games (Badminton and Volleyball) unit learning about how team members must take risks to have the opportunity to be able to change or maintain positional balance and create space. They enjoyed learning how to analyse and evaluate their performance. Below is a screenshot from a video they created to showcase their skills.

The Year 8’s enjoyed taking part in Net Games (Volleyball, Spikeball and Table Tennis), Water Games (eg. Water Polo and Underwater Hockey) and Field and Court Invasion Games (Touch Rugby and Basketball). The Year 9’s have been busy with Life Saving, Field and Court Invasion Games (Hockey, Netball and Touch Rugby) and Striking and Fielding Games (Softball and Cricket).

The Year 10’s and 11’s have been taking part in Meditation and Mindfulness, Striking and Fielding Games, Net Games, Fitness, Court and Field Invasion Games and Pool Games.

All of the classes will be starting a new unit from Monday 7th March, details can be found here.

A reminder that to ensure everyone can participate to the best of their abilities, all learners must attend their PHE classes wearing the Nexus PE t-shirt and PE shorts along with a suitable pair of running trainers (skate/flat bottomed shoes are not acceptable due to the lack of support and grip). For safety reasons, all learners must remove their jewellery and tie long hair back.
