From the Head of Primary

What an amazing term! Christmas is nearly upon us, however the learners are still actively engaged in many exciting learning engagements. Please take a look at the 'Recent Events' page to see what has been going on.

I do hope that many of you have noticed one of the real differences of Nexus to other schools: the way all our learners are encouraged and empowered to take action! Many schools have special events or activities led by staff. At Nexus, they truly are planned, developed and led by our learners. In the last few weeks alone, learners have run auditions for our very first Primary School Talent Show; set up a Gaming Club, a U10 Rugby Club; led assemblies; organised the collection hundreds of Christmas Shoe Boxes for the Singapore Food Heart Charity, run sports activities for younger learners, and started an Environmental Rangers Team. You should all be very proud of your young children!

The Christmas Fair preparations are well under way and it looks like being the usual mix of fun and games that our children love. The NPG have put in a huge amount of work to making this event a success but they NEED YOUR HELP (please see the NPG page to see how all parents can get involved). I would also like to take this opportunity to personally thank Kerri Ames, who, as many of you know has been a huge part of the NPG over the last few years. We wish her all the very best as she and her family head back home.

On the same afternoon as the Christmas Fair musicians from across the school will be leading 'Carols By Candlelight' which is sure to be a magical experience. Tickets for both 'Carols by Candlelight' performances are now sold out BUT don't give up! Please come by the Auditorium at either 4.55pm or 6.55pm on the day. We will release the tickets of those who haven't checked-in by then to those who were not able to book tickets in advance. Do act fast as this will be done on a first-come-first-served basis!

As this is the final Primary Newsletter of this Semester, may I take this opportunity to thank the staff, the learners and the parent community for being so actively involved in our community. The engagement of you all makes Nexus a wonderful place to be. Wishing our Christian families, a very Happy Christmas and to everyone all the very best for 2018.

With best regards,

Paul.
