From our Head of Primary

I would like to thank all our learners and their families for joining us for our annual Primary School Learning Conferences. We know that learners find this time sharing their learning with parents a very special one and we know for research that the more children reflect on and take ownership of their learning jounrey the more success they have. As well as the online conversation with yourselves, your child and your child's homeroom teacher we provided a range of SeeSaw activities covering all aspects of the PYP curriculum for you to explore with your child throughout the day (and over the weekend). We hope these have given you an insight into your child's learning and that they enjoyed sharing with you.

Over the next two weeks, we will be celebrating the Chinese New Year. My thanks to the LOTE-Chinese, French, BML and Music teams for organising these celebrations. I am sure the learners will have a fantastic time. During this time, learners are invited to dress up in traditional Chinese dress. Please see the ' Upcoming Events to see the day(s) your child is invited to dress up.

On Friday, 19 February we have one of the most highly anticiapted events of the year: the Grand Opening of the Nexus Tree House. Leading up to the opening, children in Years 1 and 2 will be creating decorations to adorn the treehouse and on the day of the Grand Opening there will be a special picnic, playground games, crafts, storytelling and even ice creams! If your child is in Year 1 or Year 2, please look at the 'Upcomign Section' for more details. In the following weeks, other Year Groups will be visiting the Nexus Tree House to take a look around.

In other areas of the school, the Merlion Mural is taking shape and our Nexus musicians have been celebrating successes in recent ABRSM and Trinity Music Examinations. Take a look through the sections of our Newsletter to find out more.

Finally, may I wish our families celebrating the lunar new year next weekend a year ahead that brings good health, happiness and prosperity. Xing qi wu kuai le!

Best regards.
