From our Head of Primary

Welcome to our first Primary News of the Academic Year. Following on from the previous whole-school News a fortnight ago, when we introduced our homeroom teaching teams this week our focus in on how and what your children are learning. We are often asked what makes learning different at Nexus, it's the active and inquiring role our learners take in their education. Take a look at the video below. Deputy Heads Paul and Stephanie will take you around the school to show you what this means and looks like in our learning spaces.

Another powerful element of the Primary Years Programme at Nexus is the way the curriculum is designed. There are six transdisciplinary themes that we explore which take us beyond the confines of learning within subject areas. Click on 'Our Central Ideas' to find out more.

Our fortnightly newsletter is an important part of our communication with our whole community. Through it we try to alert you to upcoming events and post important notices. There are a few important announcements included in this week's newsletter. For example:

  • Add to your diaries the dates for the Parent and Teacher Conferences in mid-September. You will have the on option of booking appointments in the evening of Monday, 21 or Wednesday 23 September. Details will follow soon.

  • Join your Class WhatsApp Groups to connect with other families in your child's homeroom.

  • Jot down the email contact of your child's Homeroom Teacher for when you need it.

  • Join our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/pg/nexusinternationalschoolsingapore) for the latest school-wide news.

  • If your child is a budding musician, get them signed up for our upcoming Online Music Recitals.

And, finally find out more about our Merlion Activities. Don't forget to dress up next Friday as we kick-off this series of great events and help support the President's Challenge.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
