Our huge thanks to the whole community for supporting the Year 4 girls and their recent Swimathon. We are delighted to say that the charity they supported (Books and Bread for Kenya) has already used the money raised to install solar panels and batteries have now been on the roof of Betty’s house. Betty is the village's school teacher. The solar electricity now powers the water pump for the village and school.
Below are someimages of the solar panels, batteries and pump that have been installed and this video is a short thank you message from Betty.
Once again, thank you for helping us make such a fundamental change for good.
Each year Nexus has been involved in the Readers Cup competition with International Schools across Singapore.
The competition is based on the Red Dot Book categories. Learners from Years 4 to 6 joined the CCA in January to prepare for the May competition.
Our learners worked very hard to create book covers, book trailers and become experts in at least two books from their Red Dot category to compete in the annual Readers Cup Kahoot competition.
We were proud to be able to enter not one but two teams in the Younger Readers category which were made up of our Year 4 learners. Our learners had fun, were engaged and showed commitment to keeping on task and getting the job done and completed all the challenges with ease!
Younger Readers - Nexus 1
Younger Readers - Nexus 2
We entered one team for the Older Readers category - this did not phase our Year 5 & Year 6 learners. With confidence and persistence, a mini Kahoot competition was held to choose the 6 learners for the main competition. On the day the learners did a great job displaying their knowledge and collaborative skills.
Older Readers - Nexus 3
Congratulations to all our learners who participated over the past 4 months. Ms Monica was very proud of all your efforts!
