Knowing how important it is to be future ready, Nexus has run The Next Steps two day event for its Year 10 learners. Learners have had the opportunity to hear about different careers and the routes to them, workshop their own ideas with some of Singapore's leading entrepreneurs and company CEOs, build their CVs and have mock interviews.
A massive thank you to all the parents and external partners who have worked so hard to help us make this happen. Our learners have truly benefited from what you have been able to provide.
Year 12 learners will commence their 1:1 counsellor meetings from 22nd April this term. The focus of these meetings will be to support learners in putting together a plan for the coming months in regards to life after Nexus. All learners will head into the summer months with a personalised to-do list. This will cover drafting college essays; finalising choices; creating an application timeline etc.
Don't forget to ask your child/ ward to invite you to our careers and university platform, Unifrog. This is a one-stop-shop for all things related to college admissions and careers information. A great feature is that it finds suitable courses for learners based on their preferred destination, grades and academic interests. The results are divided into three sections: Aspirational, Solid and Safe.
Year 12 learners interested in pursuing medicine joined a lunchtime session on 9th April. Slides can be found here.
Year 12 and 13 learners are invited to a mini university fair on 17th April from 1.30pm-2.15pm. Five universities will be in attendance and will host booths in the Common Room. Please encourage your child/ ward to attend. Universities include:

It has been very exciting to see our Year 9 learners bringing their MYP Community Projects to life! Next week many learners will be taking over the atrium during lunchtime to set up stalls to raise awareness of the projects and charities they are supporting. Some will be selling goods or products and some want to advocate on behalf of the community they are representing.
During the holidays three very entrepreneurial go-getters recognised that we were hosting IB workshops at the school and sought out an opportunity to sell cookies for breakfast and lunch to the delegates visiting our school. The trio managed to raise $279.26 during the event to assist a local organization devoted to helping children and their families. Our visitors were very impressed to see learners taking action at the event!
Well done Arabella McMahon, Raniesha Kumar, and Laras Perkins!
