As we start a new term, I’d like to take the opportunity to remind parents of the procedure laid out in our handbook, should you wish to make a change to your primary child’s pick up arrangements.
If you wish to make a change you must inform homeroom teachers and Learner Services (learnerservices@nexus.edu.sg) and if applicable, the bus company.
We respectfully request that you inform us of any last minute changes by noon so that the information can be passed on to the relevant teachers.
We are not able to guarantee your child will be directed to a change of pick up arrangements if we do not receive the request before noon. Teachers and CAs are not expected to be checking emails or messages during afternoon timetabled teaching blocks and may be on duty looking after learners during lunch time. With this in mind we need to be able to get messages to them before the start of the lunch break.
We appreciate your understanding and support.
As a school we are changing our information system from ENGAGE to iSAMS.
We will be sharing further information as the internal rollover is completed.
Please ensure you have downloaded and saved a copy of all your child's Learning Summaries or Secondary Reports from the Parent Portal before Friday 14 June (the last day of term).
Unfortunately due to the change in system neither Learning Summaries or Secondary Reports will be available from ENGAGE after this date.
In addition learner Nexus Gmail accounts for Nursery to Year 9, will be disabled for a period of time during the break.
The second round of yearbook photos will be taking place on Monday 15 April through Wednesday 17 April.
It will only involve absentees/newcomers that missed the last photoshoot and any learners involved in select Music, Sports and learner leadership organisation. A previous email has been sent out with more attire details.
For easy reference, you may find the full schedule HERE.
Later in the term the majority of our Year 4, 5 and 6 learners will participate in the ACER ISA assessments. The International Schools’ Assessment (ISA) is a high-quality assessment used by international schools and schools with an international focus to monitor learner performance over time and to confirm that the school's internal assessments are aligned with international expectations of performance.
The ISA supports Nexus to compare attainment in our Primary School against other schools worldwide as part of our quality assurance processes. ACER has gained invaluable experience in developing assessments that are culturally and educationally appropriate for learners from many language and educational backgrounds. The ISA is based on the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). PISA is developed under the support of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
The ISA provides:
an external evaluation of core skills in mathematical literacy and reading that allows us to evaluate the reliability of our internal assessments
a reliable external tool that helps us reflect and refine the quality of our Nexus curriculum
a detailed set of reports summarising our school’s results and comparative data that allow us to easily identify areas of strength or weakness and trends over time
comparisons of learner cohorts with other participating learner cohorts in the same year group. This provides a means for us to monitor cohort performance against international expectations
If you would like to find out more about the ISA assessments, please contact Fiona Lewis. The ACER ISA Privacy Statement is available here.
